Parents Paint the Picture You Want!

Recently, I embarked on a home-improvement journey by attempting to paint the inside of my house. My anticipation of futility was quite understandable, considering how much work it is, and my hectic schedule. However, I managed to break the task down into manageable chunks by doing one wall at a time.

As I was putting on a fresh coat of paint over those marked up walls, I felt like I was somehow becoming more empowered. I was actually painting myself and my family a new and better scenario. I was creating a better life-picture right here within our own home, within these very walls that we all exist.

Like usual, I soon began thinking about the nature of self-improvement as well. I thought it’s amazing how something as simple as a fresh coat of paint could paint me a new outlook or better way of me picturing the present and future with my family within our home. Then I wondered what other things in life that we also have control over that are more substantial than just a fresh coat of paint could improve our lives.

What if we didn’t just paint our home to look great, but also painted up our lives and our relationships to look great? What if we did some more of the simple and doable things in life that improve it, and make our lives feel and look better to us?

Could we start an exercise program and healthy eating as busy parents? How about starting a hobby of something we always wanted to do? Can we keep a good book by our side so we can read what we want to read? What about taking a walk with another? Can we picture all the great memories that we all have the power to paint picture perfect?

Now, as my Granddaddy always said, “Go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us.” Let’s start painting pictures that we want our lives to reflect. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do…
