The Most Recommended Antifungal Agents for Ringworm

Ringworm is a fungal infection that is a major problem on parts of the body such as scalp, the groin, the feet, and the nails.

While it is true that some infections go away even if they are not treated, there are also cases that ringworm does not go away by itself. This is the time where we need to use antifungal agent to get rid of the problem.

Clotrimazole is commonly known as Canesten is antifungal medicine that is used for treating both human and animals that has fungal diseases. It is used to treat fungal diseases like vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, ringworm, athlete’s foot and jock itch.

Ketoconazole is an antifungal drug that is both effective for preventing and treating fungal skin diseases, it can also be used to treat people with AIDS and those who are undergoing chemotherapy treatments. It is not only sold as topical cream but can also be bought as anti-dandruff shampoo or oral tablet. It also accumulates in the fatty tissue. If you want to use it as an oral tablet, it would be best to take in at highly acidic levels so anything that causes a decreased stomach acid levels will also reduce the drug’s absorption as soon as it is taken orally. It is best to associate it with colas so that the drug can be fully absorbed.

Tolnaftate comes as a cream, powder, spray, or liquid aerosol. This agent is used for treating jock itch, athlete’s foot and ringworm. It is known for several names such as Tinactin or Odor Eaters.
